Mark Richmond was born on January 7th, 1944 in Wenatchee,
Washington to Stan and Cecile Richmond. He grew up in Washington and cherished
many fond memories of his childhood home.
At the age of 15, his family returned to Mississippi where
Mark finished high school in Walnut Grove. He began college at Mississippi
State. Mark married and had two daughters, Tracy and DeAnne. He finished his
bachelor's and earned his master's degree at the University of Southern
Mississippi before moving to Indiana University to obtain his doctorate of
education.
Mark returned to Hattiesburg to teach at USM and enjoyed a
30-year career there where he positively impacted countless lives by sharing
his passion for education. He was named Professor Emeritus. He also served a thirty
year tenure as the executive director of the American Board of Cardiovascular
Perfusion.
His love for his work led him to the love of his life, his
wife Beth. Mark and Beth have been married 26 years and shared so many
wonderful years with their blended family and grandchildren. Their home on the
lake was the gathering place for many, many fantastic fun-filled times. They
enjoyed boating, swimming, motorcycling, gardening, and an exciting variety of
hobbies from horses to RVs. Mark and Beth loved to travel and visited several
countries and toured the US, always managing birthday visits to the
grandchildren. Lately their travels included several memorable cruises.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his older
brother, Jerry Richmond. He leaves behind his wife, Dr. Beth Anderson Richmond;
and four children, Tracy Richmond Hearn & husband Marc, DeAnne Richmond
Ridge & husband Leo,Susan Arnold Brozovic & husband Johnny and Alan
Arnold;15 grandchildren,Sam
Hearn, Leo Ridge, Margaret Ridge,Jonathan Hearn, Zachary Ridge, Max Ridge,Will
Brozovic, Lucy Ridge, Maddie Ridge, Kate Brozovic, Abby Ridge, Ellie Ridge,
Christopher Arnold, Daniel Ridge, Ray Ridge; and sisters, Judy Richmond
Phillips & husband Ronnie, Debbie Richmond Thorn & husband Ed; numerous
nieces and nephews, plus a host of loving friends who will miss him greatly.
Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. and services Tuesday
at 3 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg. Burial will be in Highland
Cemetery.
