Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Moore Funeral Chapel in Petal for Jean P. Carter, 76, of Hattiesburg, who died January 3 at her home. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Cliff Lazenby and Rev. Michael Lee will officiate.
Mrs. Carter worked in retail sales and was a member of Providence Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Carter, Jr.; parents, Jessie and Exer Pierce; one brother and one sister.
Survivors include three sons, Calvin L. Morris of Punta Gorda, Florida, Jackie L. Morris, R. of Moselle and Charles M. Carter of Milwaukee; a daughter, Cindi Townsend of Eatonville; three brothers, James D. Pierce of Petal, Roland Pierce of Georgia and Kermit Lowery of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Mary Wohler of Biloxi, Rita Steljes of Gulfport and Anna Lou Howell of Florida; nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Petal.
