Larry James Allen, 66, of Ellisville, died January 16 at his home. Visitation will be at 2:30 p.m. followed by services at 5 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2010 at Moore Funeral Chapel in Petal.
Mr. Allen was a retired owner/operator truck driver and served in the U.S. Navy Seabees in Vietnam. He was a member of VFW Hattiesburg Lacy Kelly Post 3036 and of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Lee Allen; his parents, Vurgel and Mary Allen; and a niece, Gina Allen.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannie Hooks Allen of Ellisville; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Tommy Smith of Richton; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Terri Patterson of Richton and Mitchell and Tauna Patterson of Sumrall; seven grandchildren, Trey Van Devender of Richton, Aaron Van Devender of Runnelstown, Jennifer Smith, Cassidy Smith both of Richton, Levi Patterson, Jewel Patterson and Anna Grace Patterson all of Sumrall; and one great-grandchild, Ava Dakota Van Devender of Runnelstown; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Don Vester of Mobile and Cynthia and Daniel Strahan of Lucedale; a brother, Darwin Allen of Mobile; sister-in-law, Janice Allen of Mobile; double first cousin, Wayne Stone Cypher of Brandon; and three nephews.
