Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Bethel Baptist Church for Mr. John Timothy Purvis Jr., 80, of Wiggins, who died January 19, 2010, at Forrest General Hospital. Burial will be in Wiggins City Cemetery.
Mr. Purvis was owner/operator of Wiggins Saw Company and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Purvis Sr.; sisters, Winnie Lou Stringer, Mildred Purvis and Ina Mae Kennerly; brothers, James Purvis, Robert Purvis; and son-in-law, Monty (Tater) Howard.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Purvis of Wiggins; a daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Brian Temple of Laurel; four sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Rita Purvis of Hattiesburg, Randy and Cathy Purvis, Ronnie and Sarah Purvis and Tim and Debbie Purvis all of Wiggins; three sisters, Joyce Thornton of Vicksburg, Ruby Nell Rogers of Mt. Pleasant, Texas and Maureen Harrison of Houston; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; an honorary son and grandson, Bob and Charlie Wagner; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010 at the church.
